Watch out for the true ending...
Beneath the disgusting tentacle-infested package lies a good
storyline. A sex fiend goes around the city, stalking the
most beautiful girls and drawing out their energy until death
consumes them. There is, however, another of his kind who
is meant to draw the beast out and destroy him for good. Between
the secret of the dark night and the deceitfully peaceful
countenance of the city's daylight, stands a woman who will
define the future of the two creatures...
This is the first tentacle anime I've encountered that puts
a bit of romance between the multi-limbed monster and the
female protagonist. I actually find it quite charming. The
plot twists also add to my enjoyment of watching dark secrets
get revealed one after the other, followed by a series of
breathtaking battle sequences between two sex fiends. The
excitement factor clearly does not get lost.
The artwork and animation are equally as beautiful. Each
frame looks like it was carefully crafted to perfection. No
matter how many women have been ravished by mysterious sex-beast,
none of the ecchi scenes are repeated. The rape scenes don't
look as painful as they should, either. It's a change of pace
compared to most low-budget tentacle h-anime.
There is just one important little detail that a viewer must
be careful of when watching Lesson of Darkness. The true
ending lies within the credits. When you finish it, then and only
then can you see the real conclusion. If you're a hopeless romantic,
though, I guess the ending before the credits will be enough.
